The top four candidates for a place in the Division One championship are expected to maintain their winning start to the BOV Summer League this weekend.

Sliema McDonald's, Neptunes Vodafone, Sirens Centro Casalinga and San Ġiljan Tropicana Juices have gained a maximum six points from their opening three Preliminary Round matches.

The bulk of the games involving the big guns have been one-sided affairs and this trend is likely to continue this weekend, although Sliema would do well not to underestimate neighbours Exiles Elle-et-Vire whom they meet in today's second match.

Last weekend, Sliema chalked up a 12-5 victory over an improving Ta' Xbiex Mermaids Paradise side while Exiles failed to break their duck after going down 9-7 to San Ġiljan.

Sliema appear too strong for Exiles but the latter will be eager to gain a psychological tonic with a sound performance.

Sirens, 10-7 winners over Marsascala Ocean and Sky last Saturday, should dispose of Marsaxlokk Freeport who were on the receiving end of another drubbing last weekend, losing 16-4 to Neptunes.

The Balluta Bay team, who are set to further strengthen their squad with the acquisition of a third foreigner, Serbian player Ivan Milakovic, take on Ta' Xbiex in tomorrow's opening fixture.

The final match has all the makings of a balanced encounter as the unbeaten San Ġiljan entertain Marsascala who will surely have taken encoura-gement from their bold display in the 10-7 defeat to Sirens last weekend.
