A warden was injured when he was hit by a car in what is thought to have been an assault this morning in Attard.

The warden was hospitalised and the driver was arrested soon after by the police. He is expected to be taken to court in the coming hours.

The alleged attack happened in the Hal Warda area where the warden was watching over traffic near a school. He suffered concussion.

The GWU condemned the incident. It said such cases were happening too often and could not be tolerated. It urged the authorities to investigate the case and take whoever was responsible to court.

It also insisted that wardens should work in pairs.
