The PL MEPs voted in favour of a resolution which will make it possible for Guantanamo Bay prisoners to be sent to prisons within the EU, including Malta. The PN MEPs on the other hand voted against.

While it is commendable that US President Barack Obama intends to close down Guantanamo Bay, it is simply unacceptable that these high-profile prisoners, most of them allegedly responsible for big-scale atrocities, are brought over to Malta. Their presence here would be dangerous and a threat to our security. Can Labour please explain why it voted in favour of such a resolution?
