From this photo one can notice the elegance with which our forefathers used to build even a simple thing such as a horses' water trough. This one is found in Main Street, Attard, and after many years of total neglect, it was restored in 1999. Today it serves as a monument which reminds us all of yesteryear's folkways.

This water trough was not the only one to be found in the village. As I was recently reminded by a friend of mine, in Attard there was another such trough but of a different shape. This latter one was fixed to the wall very close to San Anton Garden door in St Anthony Street, corner with Lord Strickland Street.

Nobody seems to know why it was removed, and much less where it was taken.
