The Individual League has been progressing steadily these last few weeks with several fixtures from four different divisions played on Sundays.

In the First Division singles, defending champion Kenneth Vella (Pawla Wolves) and direct contender Stefan Salomone (Birkirkara Medairco) are still unbeaten.

In their last outings, Salomone beat Aldo Polidano and Robert Salomone while Vella had the better of Konrad Degabriele and Martin Farrugia. The latter was forced to retire due to an injury sustained during the first set of his encounter with Vella, who was leading 9-5.

Latest results: S. Salomone vs A. Polidano 15-12, 15-12; K. Degabriele vs K. Vella 2-15, 12-15; M. Farrugia vs R. Salomone 1-15, 6-15; S. Salomone vs R. Salomone 15-9, 15-4; K. Degabriele vs A. Polidano 15-10, 16-17; M. Farrugia vs K. Vella 5-15, 0-15.

Vella and Salomone have now opened a joint six-point lead at the top of the standings. They are due to meet each other in a direct encounter which will bring to a close the first round.

The competitive activities of the Badminton Association will now take a short break for the Christmas festivities. The competition will resume on January 4 with the National Junior Championships.
