The new Valletta Pageant of the Seas promises to be a unique spectacle in the Grand Harbour, the Valletta 2018 Foundation said today.

It will be presented on June 7 as part of the programme to mark the 450th anniversary of Valletta’s foundation.

The show will include numerous galleys, regatta boats, power boats, yachts and carnival floats, amongst others.

The pageant will kick off with the Għawma Toni Bajada, a major swimming activity involving hundreds of people crossing from Fort St Angelo in Vittoiosa to the Old Fisheries at Ta’ Liesse in Valletta. Those interested in participating can register at

http://ghawmatonibajada.puttinucares.org, against a donation of €10.

A regatta show will take place followed by a boat race which will see people creating marine vessels from various materials, including recycled items and racing them across the Grand Harbour without the use of motors or oars.

Carnival floats will also float on water for the very firsttime in the Grand Harbour as winning carnival floats.

UK-based outdoor events organisers Walk the Plank will be the highlight of the night with a stunt and pyrotechnics show.
