Five Valletta FC officials and two Birkirkara players this morning pleaded not guilty to inciting people to commit a crime, forming a gang and behaving abusively.

The players and officials came to blows at the end of last Saturday’s Super Cup game at Ta’ Qali.

Officials Sergio Zampa, 54, of Swieqi; Nicholas Saliba, 43, of Mellieha; Sandro Ciliberti, 41 of Gharghur; Kevin Gauci, 39, of Valletta; and Vincent Tabone, 61, of Valletta, and players Paul Fenech, 23, of Naxxar; and Shaun Bajada, 27 of Sannat, also pleaded not guilty to swearing, breaching the peace, insulting, provoking and assaulting others, as well as disobeying police orders.

Mr Bajada was also accused of causing slight injuries on Vincent Tabone.

All were released on bail against a personal guarantee of €1,000.
