Two men have been injured in a roof collapse in St Julians.

The incident happened at about 3.30p.m. at a former restaurant undergoing renovation in George Borg Olivier Street, across the bay from the police station. A third workman escaped unhurt. The police said one of the men was from Mgarr and the other was a foreigner. Their injuries are not life threatening. A third man, also from Mgarr, escaped unhurt.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were quickly on the scene and helped rescue the workmen. Investigations are under way.
