The fifth edition of the University Ring Road races, in aid of Hospice Malta, will be held in Tal-Qroqq on March 13, organisers said.

“We want to make this event attractive for all – friends, family, University staff and students,” organiser Johanna Galea, from Malta University Holding Company Ltd, said.

“It’s set to be a great team-building activity, suitable for people of any fitness level. Anyone can participate and it’s for a noble cause.”

Hospice Malta is the official charity of the BRND WGN University Ring Road Races. It is a non-profit organisation supporting patients with terminal illness and their families through its many professional services.

The races will be held over two different formats: individual or team event (relay).

In the relay, groups of four will team up to run five kilometres.

There will be two distances for the individuals’ race – 2km and 5km – and participants can choose to walk or run. An 800m fun run for children will also be held.

Race numbers are to be collected on March 9 and 11, between 5 and 8pm, from the University five-a-side football pitch complex.

In an effort to raise more funds, a campaign – Murphy Runs for Hospice Malta – has also been set up. Anyone wishing to make a donation may do so by visiting www.zaar.com.mt/projects/murphy -runs-for-hospice-malta/, where there is full information about the campaign.
