The other morning several residents in Mrabat and neighbouring streets in Sliema were very rudely woken up by a very loud engine of a large truck pumping cement onto a construction site, as men talked loudly.

This started at 3am and went on till 4.15am! They seem to have a normal permit, as wardens were present too.

I understand that Mrabat Street is heavy so far as traffic is concerned but this was outrageous and ridiculous.

The very least someone could have done was advise the residents of the very early works to take place. But no, everyone is so arrogant, selfish and not bothered about anybody trying to get some sleep.

This is the society of today, and it’s only going to get worse.
