The University of Malta, in collaboration with Malta University Consulting Ltd and Ernst and Young, is organising three events to celebrate the first Global Entrepreneurship Week.

The activities put Malta on the map where entrepreneurship is concerned.

Global Entrepreneurship Week, which was founded by the Kauffman Foundation in the United States together with Make Your Mark in the United Kingdom, aims to inspire young people to embrace imagination, creativity and innovation, to engage in entrepreneurial thinking and to pursue opportunities.

This initiative will connect millions of young people from over 78 countries all over the world through thousands of activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators.

Participants will join a growing movement of enterprising individuals who generate and share new ideas and seek better ways of doing things.

The events are supported by entrepreneurs, government officials, non-profit leaders and educators at regional, national and global levels in an unprecedented attempt to bring the spirit of enterprising behaviour to young people and to create the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The events being held in Malta include training in entrepreneurship skills by an expert on entrepreneurship education from the UK for 30 promising young individuals with original entrepreneurial ideas, on November 21. Speed networking between these young potential entrepreneurs and a group of successful established entrepreneurs and a National Conference on Entrepreneurship - The Meeting of Minds, which will be open to the public, will be held on November 22.

Dr Elizabeth Read from the Royal Academy of Engineering in London and Richard Singer, Business Development Leader, Ernst and Young, Central and Southeastern Europe, will be the keynote speakers at this conference.

The Future of Entrepreneurship in Malta will be one of the topics to be discussed during an interactive panel session.

The main aim of these activities is to offer possibilities for interaction, networking, collaboration, sharing of ideas, and learning more about skills which are essential in today's competitive global scenario.
