Germany's Jan Ullrich, who finished fourth in the 2004 Tour de France, says he is delighted with his form going into this year's race.

The T-Mobile rider was third in the Tour of Switzerland which ended on Sunday, behind race winner Aitor Gonzalez of Spain and Australia's Michael Rogers.

Ullrich believes he is capable of beating six-times winner Lance Armstrong in the Tour de France which starts on July 2.

"I want to wear yellow in Paris in July and I reckon I am on the right track," said Ullrich on his personal website yesterday. "Overall, I am very, very happy with the way things went this past week in Switzerland.

"I wasn't able to defend the yellow jersey I won in Switzerland last year but that wasn't my main objective this time round, so I can easily live with third place overall.

"I am in much better shape than I was at this time last year. My form is still not at 100 per cent but I have two weeks to go to the high point of my season, the Tour de France."

The T-Mobile team for the Tour de France will be announced at a news conference tomorrow.
