Birkirkara's chances of advancing to the second qualifying round of the Champions League received a massive boost yesterday when UEFA awarded the Stripes a 3-0 victory after the first-leg match against Andorran champions FC Santa Coloma was called off due to the poor state of the pitch.

UEFA announced yesterday thart its Control and Disciplinary Body handed FC Santa Coloma a 3-0 forfeit defeat following the postponement of Tuesday's match. In addition, UEFA also imposed a €10,000 on the Andorran club as a punishment that will be suspended for a probationary period of two years. Santa Coloma have three days to appeal.

The second leg will be played on Tuesday at the Centenary Stadium.
