An agreement has been reached between local football organisation Kids Soccer Academy and Serie A club Juventus FC to stage the Juventus Soccer School in Malta.

The soccer school will cater for young players aged between six and 13 years, head coach Charles Borg said during the Juve Soccer School launch, held earlier this week in Marsascala.

The Juventus Soccer School Malta is not new to the islands but it stopped functioning a couple of years ago. Borg said that, on the insistence of Alessandro Ramello, the Sporting Director in charge of Juve academies for young players worldwide, an effort was made to revive the project.

"I take this opportunity to thank Franco Degabriele and Claudio Camilleri who first launched the Juventus Soccer School in Malta," Borg said.

"The academy project was halted not because of a lack of interest from the players but due to work pressure on the organisers. I remained actively involved in the Juve Soccer School abroad and there were many parents who encouraged me to re-open the nursery."

Borg said training sessions will be held in two venues - Pembroke and Żejtun.

"All the arrangements are virtually in place and we'll soon issue a call for applications for interested coaches to join our ranks," Borg said.

"The early response has been very encouraging and we're looking to make this school a professional organisation. According to the agreement we signed with Juventus, our personnel will visit Turin during the season to get more acquainted with coaching methods for young players."

Also present for the launch was Żejtun Corinthians FC president John Bugeja. He expressed his satisfaction that Kids Soccer Academy have chosen his club as partners.

"This is a unique opportunity for Żejtun nursery players," he said.

"There will be added incentives for all, particularly for our players who could benefit from exchange visits to Turin later this year."
