Two persons were injured last night when a car and a van collided at Council of Europe Road, Luqa.

The incident happened shortly before midnight. The occupants of the car, a man and a woman, were trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed by rescuers from the Civil Protection Department.

The woman suffered fractures and a head injury. The man appeared to have been lightly injured.

Police investigations are under way.
