Hamrun - 2, Msida - 0

Hamrun Spartans scored a goal in each half to ease past Msida St Joseph 2-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

It was a priceless victory for the Spartans who have now soared to fifth place in the Premier League standings, one point ahead of Sliema Wanderers and Floriana, to remain in the hunt for a place in the Championship Pool this season.

The Spartans took the lead on 44 minutes when Joao Mawete was floored in the area by Adam Spiteri and the referee immediately pointed to the spot.

Marcelo Pereira stepped up for the penalty and drilled the ball past goalkeeper Manuel Bartolo.

Hamrun all but sealed the points on 64 minutes when Roderick Fenech was first to a Clyde Camoin corner kick to head the ball past Bartolo.

Marcelo Pereira was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
