A man and a woman have been found dead in Wardija and Mellieha, respectively.

Informed sources said the man, found dead at San Martin, near Wardija late yesterday, is believed to have taken his own life.

His partner, a foreign woman in her 50s, was found dead at her home in Mellieha this morning. The discovery was made by the police when they called at her home as part of their investigations into the man's death. A murder investigation has been launched amid suspicion that she may have been strangled.(police sources have denied that she had several stab wounds, as initially reported).

A Magisterial inquiry is also underway.
