A group of 62 Air Malta employees have filed a judicial protest against ALPA, the pilots' union, holding it responsible for damages if a strike goes ahead on Saturday.

In their protest, the members of staff pointed out that the airline is going through restructuring in an effort to ensure it has a viable future.

The process, they said, affected the livelihood of the workers. The airline had warned that industrial action such as the planned strike could cause it to imminently cease operations, a situation, the workers said, which would cost the job of all the company workers, who would also lose all benefits they were entitled for at present.

The workers therefore, called on ALPA to desist from calling the strike and held it responsible for damages.
