Two Brazilian men were grievously injured in an argument in St Julian's this morning. The incident also involved a Brazilian woman and a Serb.

The woman was also taken to hospital but she refused treatment.

Three police officers, including a sergeant, were slightly injured.

The police said in a statement that the three men and the woman were arrested. They said that the argument took place in St Rita Street, St Julian’s at around 5.30 a.m.

The police said they tried to calm the situation when they went on site, but the Brazilians were aggressive and violent and resisted arrest.
