Two men were jailed for three years and another was given a two-year jail term suspended for four years after they admitted to stealing €500,000 worth of antique jewellery and diamonds from a shop in Valletta.

Glen Debattista, 52, from Sta Venera and Carmel Hartley, 40, were each jailed three years for the theft, from Pjazza Antiques Limited.

Mr Debattista’s son Ryan, 21, was given the suspended jail term and fined €500.

Besides the jewellery haul, the three men had also admitted to trying to steal cash from a HSBC ATM situated at Wembley Stores in Republic Street, Valletta, and relapsing.
