The Transport Ministry has called on car users to plan their trips better as from tomorrow, when schools reopen and traffic is expected to increase.

In a statement it encouraged the use of public transport, car pooling and sea transport.

People using their own car should cooperate with the police and other officials and heed traffic regulations to facilitate flow.

It said that the minister this week called a meeting of the traffic management committee which discussed how the traffic situation in general could be improved.

Agreement was reached to increase police presence on the road especially in crucial times and in arterial roads.
