Premier League big guns Hibernians, Valletta and Birkirkara will head to Gozo later on this month to take part in a friendly quadrangular tournament.

The Gozo Cup, which was launched yesterday by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Local Councils and Public Dialogue, will be played at the Sannat Ground and the Gozo Stadium between Friday, February 19 and Sunday, February 21.

Valletta, the Premier League leaders, were drawn to face Birkirkara while the other semi-final will feature Hibernians, the Malta champions, against a Gozitan selection. The winners of these matches will proceed to the final with the other teams featuring in a third-place play-off.

Apart from the Gozo Cup, a series of matches will also be played around the sister island on the same dates, involving nursery teams from various clubs in different categories.

Between February 19 and 21, the second round of the FA Trophy will be played in Malta. Hibs, Valletta and Birkirkara will not figure in this round and will only enter competition from the quarter-final stage.
