A public consultation meeting was called for on February 7 at the Sliema local council offices. The council presented the ADT's plans for pedestrianisation of Bisazza Street and the routing of traffic round the Tigné and Qui-si-Sana peninsula as well as the routing of traffic through our side streets. No representatives from ADT attended.

The mayor, Marina Arrigo, should be commended for calling the meeting in which the residents could get their points across even if the absent authorities now still have the power to make final decisions over projects which concern us without even bothering to hear us out.

"Yes, together everything is possible." But who does "together" include? Definitely, it does not include us, the residents and our local council. For us nothing is possible; not when time and again we have to face arrogance from such constituted bodies as ADT and Mepa whenever we come to state our case. The irony of it all is that they were established expressly to defend that same right.
