After all these years in opposition one would have expected Labour to come up with a new and refreshing campaign for the upcoming general election. Apart from the lack of content and well-thought-out policies I was extremely surprised to see the MLP top brass being carted around in the "Coach of Change". It did not hit me immediately but I suddenly got flashbacks to the 1996 electoral campaign where the same MLP top brass used to go around in their ċittadinmobil. So much for a new beginning!
The parallels do not stop there. In 1996 the MLP battle cry was "iċ-ċittadin l-ewwel" and a few months later Alfred Sant was being told by his predecessor that he had lost his social conscience - the exact opposite of what was promised. We are now being promised a new beginning. Would you risk finding out what the result will be this time round?
