These are the leading stories in today's local newspapers.

The Times of Malta reveals that Gozo Channel has reinstated two employees caught stealing from the company in 2015.

In a secondary story, teachers' union MUT warns that the situation is "volatile" at three different schools.

The Malta Independent leads with news that no changes in the law are needed to protect patient rights following the deal to privatise three state hospitals.

The newspaper also quotes PN deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami as saying that Identity Malta is refusing to hand the Electoral Commission information it needs to investigate citizen eligibility to vote.

L-Orizzont writes that the death of a Ħamrun man in a car bomb explosion last January is being treated as a murder, with police believing somebody close to Victor Calleja placed the explosive device under the seat of his wife's car.

The paper also reports on PN complaints about an Electoral Commission investigation into party financing, saying that the PN wants to dodge the law.

In-Nazzjon highlights PN leader Simon Busuttil's promise to ensure institutions served the public without outside meddling, with Dr Busuttil criticising the way an inquiry into alleged meddling in a Gozo drug trafficking investigation was held.
