The third call under the Kreattiv Scheme was launched today inviting educational institutions to undertake projects in partnership with creative partners from all creative sectors.

The scheme encourages structured exchanges between cultural operators - be they individuals or organisations, and educational institutions - with the aim of facilitating creative education as a key tool for holistic development.

These projects seek to complement the curriculum but are not driven by it.

They strive to add value to the learning experience and to the school environment by bringing creative practitioners into schools to work with teachers and students to inspire, learn and create in a collaborative and innovative way.

In so doing, these exchanges give students a glimpse into the variety of career opportunities that the cultural and creative sector could offer.

One of the key objectives of the scheme is to embed cultural and creative entrepreneurship in schools as expressed in the National Cultural Policy and the Creative Economy Strategy.

Kreattiv offers unique employment opportunities for cultural operators and practitioners and the possibility for structured experimentation and dialogue with other relevant sectors such as science and technology.

To date over 36 projects have benefited from this scheme reaching hundreds of students all across Malta and Gozo. Successful projects in 2011 and 2012 came from very diverse sectors - from traditional crafts, storytelling and artistic disciplines to contemporary and emerging media.

The Kreattiv funding programme is part of Government's commitment to engage educators and creative practitioners in dialogue and collaboration that encourage students and educators towards further engagement within the creative sector.

The amount committed for 2013 to the Kreattiv fund is €80,000. A maximum of €5,000 is awarded to each selected proposal, which amount has to be used over a 12-month period (academic year 2013-2014).
