Two young men were robbed in separate incidents in Gżira and Sliema on Tuesday night.

The first case involved an 18-year-old Libyan who was robbed of €100 (Lm42.93) while walking along Ponsonby Street in Gżira, the police said.

The Libyan was approached by a man who waved a knife at him and demanded money. The Libyan handed over the cash. He was not injured.

In the second case, a 21-year-old man from Mosta was accosted by a man who threatened him with an iron bar. The victim was walking along The Strand, in Sliema.

The thief forced the man to hand over the money he had on him which amounted to €200 (Lm85.86), the police said.

The victim was not injured but had to be treated for emotional stroke, the police said.

The police are investigating.
