A selection of 24 original documents, dispatched by various Popes to the Order of the knights of St John, is the central focus of a Papal exhibition opened by Archbishop Paul Cremona.

The documents are part of the Archives of the Order of St John, which are in the custody of the National Library in Valletta.

The idea was to hold an exhibition highlighting the strong ties between the island, the Pope and the Holy See.

Paintings, vestments and other items donated by private individuals, churches, museums, local councils and associations are also on display.

The exhibition is open during office hours and entrance is free. It closes on April 30.
