On February 27, Alfred Sant revealed a damning Cabinet report which shows how the Gonzi Administration plans to end free health care for all.

The report, entitled Health Financing Reform, presented to the Cabinet in December 2004, reveals how the Cabinet "agreed in principle" to fees imposed by regulations for the provision of health care or health support services to Maltese or foreign citizens.

The report Lawrence Gonzi discussed in Cabinet says: "Fees imposed by regulations for the provision of health care or health support services to Maltese or foreign citizens. The Cabinet has agreed in principle to this concept, but fees for Maltese citizens will not be introduced for the moment due to their political underpinnings." During the press conference Dr Sant showed clips of Dr Gonzi strongly denying, on three different occasions, that he ever had discussions in Cabinet about imposing fees on health care. In the absence of a plausible denial by Dr Gonzi, people may only arrive at one conclusion: The PN are misleading the electorate with their blatant untruths.

On the other hand, if they try to belie this, it will only be a manifestation of deceit considering that Dr Sant is backing his attestation by documented facts. This is a Catch 22 for Dr Gonzi.

Does the strategy of demonisation of Dr Sant have anything to do with the gonzipn plan attempting to pull wool over the voters' eyes? They are failing miserably.
