The Badminton Association continued with its pre-season activities by holding a second team tournament at St Martin's College, Swatar.

There were 32 players in all. One court was reserved for the youngest players, who faced each other under the watchful eyes of their parents.

Kenneth Vella, Stefan Salomone, Edmund Abela and Robert Salomone captained the four teams.

In the first round of the tournament, the squads led by Vella and Stefan Salomone were drawn to play each other while Robert Salomone's team faced the group led by Abela.

In the second round, the winners of these fixtures played each other for first/second place while the losing sides played for third/fourth place. Each fixture consisted of four separate doubles games.

Vella's team initially defeated Stefan Salomone's squad 3-1; Robert Salomone's side overcame Abela's group with an identical scoreline.

Robert Salomone's team then placed first after beating Vella's squad 3-1. Stefan Salomone's side took third place.

Besides Robert Salomone, the winning team was made up of Konrad Degabriele, Fiorella Farrugia, Edmund De Giovanni, Mathilde Friggieri, Samuel Cali and Daniel Mizzi.

Badminton activities will now continue on October 12 with the holding of the annual general meeting at St Martin's College at 10 a.m.
