Juanita Brockdorff has been appointed partner at professional services firm KPMG.

Dr Brockdorff graduated in law from the University of Malta 10 years ago and later read a Master's in International Tax Law at the University of Leiden, in the Netherlands.

She joined KPMG in 2002 where she deals with international corporate tax issues surrounding both direct and indirect taxation. She is particularly interested in the EU's impact on tax law. Her work has been published in international tax journals such as European Taxation, EC Tax Review, Intertax, and Captive Review.

She has also contributed to A Decade of Case Law, a collection of essays on international tax published by the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation.

Dr Brockdorff regularly delivers presentations on taxation, both locally and overseas, and for a number of years she lectured the Advanced Taxation module for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and in the course leading to the Advanced Diploma in International Taxation issued by the UK Chartered Institute of Taxation.

She also acts as examiner of tax dissertations submitted to the University of Malta, serves on the Council of the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners, and is a member of the International Fiscal Association.
