Gabriel Marie Anselme, Prince de Broglie and a French historian, is in Malta to speak on French institutes and academies, traditions and stakes in the 21st century.

The chancellor of the Académie Francaise and author of many works will attend a conference, in French, sponsored by the French Embassy and the Alliance Francaise.

Prince de Broglie graduated from the Paris Institute of Political Studies and the ENA, the French Civil Services school, and has served as a technical adviser to several French ministers.

As an essay writer, he has written many chronicles on issues like the French state, television and language. Since 1996, he has held the presidency of the General Commission of Terminology and Neology that monitors the correct usage and promotion of the French language.

He has chaired the Society of French Bibliophiles since 1980 and his own books have won many prizes.

He will deliver his speech at the Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Valletta tonight at 6.30 p.m. The public is welcome to the talk and the cocktails that will follow.
