Trucks frequently use Triq il-Pellikan, Swieqi, as a shortcut to and from San Ġwann when a road sign clearly indicates these vehicles are not allowed on this stretch of road unless to render a service. Perhaps a warden could be assigned to control this situation.

The ‘sleeping policeman’ recently installed at the bottleneck as one enters Triq is-Swieqi from the valley was a good idea, but couldn’t they have done a decent job and levelled out a metre or two just by this ‘sleeping policeman’? Why should the ground be bumpy here? Sort of a job half done, no?

In the upper part of Triq il-Pellikan (beyond the sign marking the limits of Swieqi) as one drives down to Swieqi, two road signs were recently damaged and one of them now points in the wrong direction, perhaps after being hit by a truck. Moreover, the latter sign showing a black arrow lacks the red arrow on its left which needs a fresh coat of paint. The red arrow is needed to alert drivers going down the valley to give way to traffic going uphill.

Triq is-Sidra needs a couple of bus shelters. Why is our street neglected in this respect? Don’t we long-time residents of Swieqi deserve better than bus stops which have been without shelters for years?
