Sunday, October 26 will be a red letter day for the Hockey Association of Malta. After years of waiting, competitive matches will no longer be played on gravel but on a new state-of-the-art synthetic surface at the Corradino Hockey Complex.

The season gets underway on Sunday at 10 a.m. when champions Punch & Judy Rabat and KO winners Young Stars contest the Super Cup.

It seems fitting that the first official game on the new surface is played between two of the most successful teams in recent years. Last year these clubs shared the four honours available with Rabat winning the league and Super Cup and Young Stars taking the KO and Challenge Cup.

Young Stars have won this competition eight times against Rabat's four.
