Portman International invites final year Law and B. Com students, ACCA candidates, and other students looking for work experience, to join day-to-day activities within a trust and corporate services company.

The summer placements will involve corporate services duties, including legal and regulatory procedures, accounting, taxation and VAT, mostly in relation to international clients.

Corporate services officers occupy a pivotal role within the trust and corporate services industry, ensuring that companies set up and managed by the provider are in line with the statutory requirements of the jurisdiction and that they are kept in good standing by the submission of the annual returns and other filings.

Officers assist clients with a number of services to ensure these objectives are achieved. These include company formation and administration, liquidations and dissolutions, document legalisation, assisting with work and residence permit applications and yacht registrations, to mention a few.

Corporate services departments are responsible for identifying the statutory requirements of each jurisdiction and ensuring each is satisfied in a timely and correct manner, as well as submitting companies' annual returns. Officers are also responsible for maintaining the internal systems necessary to properly administer their work.

Another key function of a trust and corporate service provider (TCSP) is that of trustee or fiduciary services. A trust is formed by declaration or deed and is a binding document, whereby legal ownership and management of assets is separated from the right to benefit from those assets. The assets of a trust can be many and varied, such as bank accounts, property, shares or portfolio investments.

TCSPs offer their service through the planning of corporate structures; the setting up and administration of companies, foundations, partnerships and trusts.

Portman International is a provider of fiduciary trading support services to international clients. The core services of the company are the formation and administration of companies and trusts, accounting, taxation, advisory and helping clients meet their legal, statutory and commercial objectives.

Portman International is based in Malta and supported by two other offices located in the heart of London and Dublin. In total, Portman International employs 80 professionals.
