The Malta Rugby Football Union last night held its annual awards ceremony at the Le Meridien Phoenicia in Floriana where the best performers of the 2006/2007 season were honoured.
Stompers TGI Fridays RFC picked up the lion's share of the team awards, winning trophies for both Cisk Lager men's championship and the Ray Elliott Cup. They also deservedly scooped the award for Team of the Season.
Kavallieri Blue Label received the MRFU Cup after defeating Stompers in the final and placed second in the league championship.
The Kavallieri women's team maintained their championship record as they retained the Ben Bennett women's championship.
The Sharks Saddles women's team took home the team of the season in the female awards category while Globalair Overseas won the Referee's Society Fair Play Award.

Best female player: Esther Farrugia (Kavallieri); Best coach in women's league: Carmelo Lungo (Sharks); Most promising female talent: Beverie Sultana (Sharks).
Best youth player: Steven Attard (Stompers); Most promising mini player: Aaron Borg (Falcons); Best match official: Steven Busuttil; Personality of the year: Nick Gatt (MRFU PRO).
National Team retirement awards: John Dimond; David Gasan; Lifetime achievement award: Mike Beerman (former national team manager).
