In the item Population At Corradino (June 1), it was stated that up to May 24, the population at the Corradino Correctional Facility totalled 575: 536 men and 39 women. This was the reply to a parliamentary question given by the Home Affairs Minister. When I was temporary prison medical officer in the early 1990s, the total prison population then was about 100. They were almost all men with some three women. Does this mean that the number of criminals has increased fivefold within two decades?
