St Patrick's Athletic Club, in collaboration with the Gudja Local Council, will hold an eight-kilometre race on October 12, a flat loop starting at 9 a.m. from near the club's premises.

The route takes runners towards Tal-Barrani, the Sta Lucija perimeter road and along the stretch to the airport. Just before Hal-Far Road, athletes enter the village centre before crossing over to the Ghaxaq by-pass for a final sprint home.

Last year's winners were Charmaine Sciberras and Charles Cilia who finished the race in 30.26 and 27.12 respectively. Marouska Cutajar and Antoine Borg were the winners of a four-kilometre race which will also be held this year along with a fun run, two kilometres long.

This year, Powerade and Kristal water are the main sponsors. On the occasion of Mental Health Day, the National Commission for Mental Health is offering a Lm40 EuroSport voucher to those who register for the race and submit a slogan promoting mental health.

Closing date for application is Saturday. One may obtain application forms from Wally's souvenirs shop in South Street, Valletta.

More details may be obtained by phoning 21-410648 or 7970-8650.
