"Augustine of Hippo's preaching on conversion, catechesis and Daily Christian Life in Fourth Century North Africa" will be the theme of the seventh Annual St Augustine Lecture organised by the Faculty of Theology of the University of Malta, in collaboration with the Foundation for Theological Studies of the Archdiocese of Malta and the Augustinian Institute.

The lecture was founded in 1994 by Rev. Dr Salvino Caruana, OSA, lecturer at the Faculty of Theology. This year's lecture will be addressed by Professor Mathijs Lamberigts, Dean of the Faculty of Theology of the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium.

On Thursday, November 20, at 7 p.m. at the Erin Serracino Inglott Hall of University of Malta, Professor Lamberigts will deliver a public lecture to the Philosophy Society of the University of Malta on "The Social Augustine. A Re-reading of the 29 Letters (DIVJAK) of St Augustine of Hippo" under the distinguished patronage of President Guido de Marco. Professor Roger Ellul Micallef, Rector of the University of Malta, will be in the chair.

On Friday, November 21 at 11 a.m., at the Centre for Communication and Technology (CCT) of the University of Malta (Room 202), Professor Lamberigts will deliver a public lecture on "A Re-Evaluation of St Augustine of Hippo's Pelagian Controversy. A New Reading of Pelagius' Intuitions of Christian Conversion". Rev. Professor George Grima, Dean of the Faculty of Theology, will be in the chair.

That same day at 6.15 p.m. Professor Lamberigts will deliver a public lecture at the Augustinian Institute, Pietà, on "The Daily Life of a Bishop of Hippo. The sermones ad populum." Professor Anthony Frendo, Head of the Department of Arabic and Near Eastern Studies of the University of Malta, will chair the discussion.

On Saturday at 8.45 p.m., Professor Lamberigts will deliver a public lecture at the Sacred Heart Seminary in Gozo on "St Augustine of Hippo's De catechizandis rudibus. Augustine's catechesis". The Bishop of Gozo, Mgr Nikol Cauchi, will preside.
