Dingli Swallows 0
St Andrews 3

St Andrews recovered from their heavy defeat to Zurrieq in their previous match as they obtained a deserved victory over a disappointing Dingli side, now hovering at the wrong end of the standings.

Play was balanced at the start but Dingli went close first with a Darren Roe effort which was neutralised by goalkeeper Reuben Cini.

Dingli 'keeper Mark Abela then did well to save on Anthony Galea's shot. Six minutes before the break Dingli had a Jonathan Sapiano free-kick which just missed the target.

On 50 minutes Robert Guzman put the Saints ahead from a swift break. Seven minutes later Guzman doubled his side's lead following an indecision in the Dingli box.

Dingli could have reduced the arrears but Jesmond Zammit's header went wide. Ten minutes from time St Andrew's sealed the issue with a third goal scored by Mark Schembri. He concluded a good move between Guzman and Pisani.

Xghajra Tornadoes 0
Vittoriosa Stars 2

Vittoriosa consolidated their mid-table position after chalking up their fourth victory in the league.

Against lowly Xghajra they dictated matters all the way. After only eight minutes a Robert Adami drive was well saved by Carter. A minute later Kevin Cachia's header was cleared in time by Xghajra defender Damien D'Amato and on 21 minutes Carter was once again on hand to save an Adami free-kick.

The Cottonera team maintained the initiative after the break with the Xghajra goalkeeper distinguishing himself with other fine saves.

However, Carter was beaten 20 minutes from time when Charles Cachia found space after a Lagana throughpass to put Vittoriosa ahead.

Lagana had a good match and crowned a fine day one minute from time when he sealed Vittoriosa's points, dribbling past Carter before ramming the ball home.

Gharghur 0
Sirens 2

Gharghur failed to maintain the pace with the teams challenging for promotion as they were surprisingly beaten by Sirens.

Gharghur scored after four minutes only for the point to be cancelled after a foul on Sirens goalkeeper Galea. They then went close through efforts from Kris Sargent and John Schembri. Five minutes before the break a Jeremy Dalli volley rattled the Sirens woodwork.

Gharghur re-launched their attacks on the Sirens goal after the break but in the 62nd minute Reuben Bonett profited from a goalmouth melee inside the Gharghur box to put his team in front.

Gharghur's reaction was weak as Sirens went on to secure victory with a Patrick Zammit first-timer from a free-kick.

Six minutes after the restart Ta' Xbiex hit the upright from a Ralph Mangion corner as Attard stayed focused to deny the Kirkop forwards.

In the 64th minute Kirkop goalie Mizzi saved on Buhagiar with the help of the bar but two minutes later Albert Caruana put Kirkop ahead with a goal from close in.
