Rugby Union: Former New Zealand international Ali Williams has been suspended by French club Racing 92 after he was arrested in possession of cocaine. Toulon player James O’Connor, who has been capped 44 times by Australia, was also arrested in Paris last weekend, according to reports in France. Williams, 35, who was a part of the All Blacks side that won the 2011 World Cup on home soil, came out of retirement last summer to play for Top 14 champions Racing 92.

Athletics: Wilson Kipsang, of Kenya, missed out on the world record but ran the fastest time ever on Japanese soil to win the Tokyo Marathon in two hours, three minutes and 58 seconds yesterday. The 34-year-old was looking to better compatriot Dennis Kimetto’s mark of 2:02.57 and wrest back the world record he lost in 2014 but was unable to take sufficient advantage of a new course design. All six of the world record times recognised by the IAAF have been set at the Berlin marathon, including Kipsang’s at the 2013 version. The previous best time in Japan was Tsegaye Kebede’s 2:05.18 at Fukuoka in 2009.

Golf: Amy Yang sank a short birdie putt on the 72nd hole to seal a five-stroke victory at the Honda LPGA Thailand in style yesterday, the Korean claiming the title for a second time with a new tournament record. The 2015 champion closed with a four-under 68 at the Siam Country Club in Chonburi to finish with a 22-under-par total of 266, one shot lower than the previous record and well clear of nearest rival, fellow Korean Ryu So-yeon (68). Compatriot Kim Sei-young finished a further two strokes back in third place.

Six Nations: Scotland suffered another injury setback yesterday when it was announced that back rower John Hardie will play no further part in the Six Nations championship after suffering a knee injury in Saturday’s 29-13 win over Wales at Murrayfield. An MRI scan after the game confirmed the player damaged his medial collateral ligament before leaving the pitch in the first half and is expected to be out for several weeks. Scotland had already lost number eight Josh Strauss and captain Greig Laidlaw before Saturday’s game, making their final two matches away to England and at home to Italy even tougher.
