Is it too much to ask Malta Public Transport to employ someone who can pronounce our two national languages to record the stop messages on buses?
On a trip from St. Julian’s to Valletta on February 22, at about 9:30am, the announcements were made by a female voice with an Arabic accent and the stops sounded something as follows: e-she-less (Exiles); gā-dir (Għadir); Calais (Chalet); allez (Hallet); bow-veree (Bouverie); Gżira sounded like something in Klingon I can’t transcribe; rigolet (Rigord); ge-neen (Ġnien); chātt (Xatt); sariah (Sarria) and malli (Mall).
Were it not so embarrassing it would havebeen entertaining.
Have Autobuses de Leon succumbed to the anything goes virus that affects so many here?
