Getafe: Getafe have signed French left back Franck Signorino from relegated Nantes on a four-year contract, the Primera Liga club said. However, forward Daniel Guiza has left Getafe for Real Mallorca on a four-year contract. Guiza, who scored 17 goals last season, has joined for a fee of about 4.0 million euros ($5.47 million), according to Spanish media reports.

Belmadi: Algeria midfielder Djamel Belmadi has joined Valenciennes from English second division team Southampton, the Ligue 1 club said. The 31-year-old former Olympique Marseille player has signed for one year.

Man. United signings: Manchester United's summer signings Owen Hargreaves and Anderson will make their debuts at the weekend, although they are not expected to play in Sunday's Community Shield. Manager Alex Ferguson said they are likely to feature in friendlies at Doncaster Rovers on Friday or Peterborough United tomorrow.

Eriksson: Sven-Goran Eriksson almost accepted an offer to coach Bulgaria before opting instead to take the reins at Manchester City, his agent Patrick Mork said yesterday. The 59-year-old Eriksson, who became City manager on July 6, received offers from the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) as well as Newcastle United and Shakhtar Donetsk, Mork was quoted as saying by Bulgarian sports daily Tema Sport.

King: Tottenham Hotspur captain Ledley King will miss the opening two months of the season as he continues his recovery from a knee injury in June, his manager Martin Jol confirmed. "He will probably still be out for another two months," Jol was quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard. King underwent surgery after aggravating a cartilage tear while on England duty.

Baptista: Real Madrid's Brazil forward Julio Baptista has said he wants to stay and fight for his place at the Santiago Bernabeu after talks with new coach Bernd Schuster. "We were both honest and things are much clearer between us now. I think they want me though they have not finished building the team yet. But there is absolutely no chance of me going on loan to another club," Baptista, who has attracted interest from Milan, told reporters.

Portsmouth: Portsmouth have signed 19-year-old French midfielder Jean Francois Christophe on a two-year contract from Lens. The Premier League club announced Christophe's arrival on their website, together with news of defender Andy Griffin's departure to Derby County.
