Ferguson: Everton striker Duncan Ferguson has been suspended for an additional four games following an incident in a Premier League match against Wigan Athletic last month. Ferguson, who received a three-match ban for a red card shown by referee Mike Dean after he threw a punch at Wigan defender Paul Scharner, was later charged with violent conduct for striking full-back Pascal Chimbonda in the ensuing melee.

Moldova: Former Soviet international Anatoly Teslev, who has been out of management for 10 years, was named Moldova's coach yesterday. The national soccer federation said Teslev would lead Moldova during their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign. Moldova, a former Soviet state and one of Europe's poorest countries, have been drawn in Group C along with European champions Greece, Turkey, Norway, Bosnia, Hungary and Malta.

McLeish: Rangers manager Alex McLeish said yesterday he had always planned to leave the Scottish Premier League champions at the end of this season. Rangers announced on Thursday that McLeish, under-fire for most of the season, would stand down after more than four years in charge. "I spoke to the chairman as far back as last August and said that I would probably be going to leave next summer," McLeish said. "We didn't want to make it public in January when we finally decided because players can take their foot off the gas."

Djemba-Djemba: Cameroon midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba faces a fine from Aston Villa after failing to report back for duty following his country's exit from the African Nations Cup, manager David O'Leary said yesterday. The 24-year-old was needed for today's Premier League match at home to Newcastle, but the former Manchester United player has not been contacted since Cameroon's quarter-final defeat by Ivory Coast in Egypt on February 4.

Racism In Sport: Real Zaragoza have been fined 600 euros by the Spanish Football Federation after a section of their fans directed racist insults at Brazilian forward Robert during last Sunday's league match against Real Betis. Zaragoza were fined a similar amount last season for abuse of Barcelona's Cameroon forward Samuel Eto'o. Brazilian full-back Roberto Carlos was briefly subjected to similar abuse during Zaragoza's 6-1 victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday.
