Kujovic: Striker Emir Kujovic has been rewarded for his superb season with Allsvenskan champions IFK Norrkoping by getting called up to the Sweden squad to face Denmark in their Euro 2016 play-off. Kujovic was top scorer, netting 21 goals to fire his unfancied side to a first league title since 1989, prompting Erik Hamren to add him to a squad that struggled to score and finished third in qualifying Group G.
Townsend: Roy Hodgson was saddened by the incident that saw Andros Townsend punished by Tottenham, but insists it had nothing to do with his exclusion from the latest England squad. Hodgson insists it was a lack of game time, rather than Monday’s flare-up, that saw him overlooked for England’s friendlies against Spain and France. “No, I made my selection before the incident,” the England boss said. “I am sad for that, sad for Tottenham, sad for him – these things do happen.”
Carsley: Lee Carsley has been named the Championship manager of the month for October while Alan Judge made it a double for Brentford by winning the player prize. Carsley won four of his five games in charge during October. A significant factor in Brentford’s form was Judge, with the midfielder having a hand in seven of the eight goals scored by Carsley’s side in October.
Depay: Man. United forward Memphis Depay has been called into coach Danny Blind’s 24-man Netherlands squad for their friendlies against Wales and Germany this month. Depay was left out of a pre-selection last week when Blind criticised his apparent lack of team spirit, but the coach has had a change of heart.
