Rincon released: Former Colombia international Freddy Rincon, facing an extradition request from Panama, has been released from prison in Brazil, a federal police spokesman said yesterday. Rincon, who played in three World Cups for his country, was granted the right to await the hearing at liberty by Brazil's top court, the Supreme Federal Tribunal. Rincon, wanted in Panama on money-laundering charges, had been held at the federal police's Sao Paulo headquarters since May.

Schalke: Schalke could be without their influential full-back Christian Pander for the match at Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena today.

Pander, Schalke's free-kick specialist, has a thigh problem and he could be added to a casualty list that also includes centre-back Mladen Krstajic.

Lyon: Olympique Lyon centre back Cleber Anderson has been included in the squad to face Metz today, coach Alain Perrin said. "We will see if he is fit enough to start the game or if he has to sit on the bench," Perrin told Lyon's website. Cleber Anderson joined the six-times French champions from Benfica during the off-season.

Marseille: Olympique Marseille coach Albert Emon said he was ready for radical changes if his team failed to record their first home win of the season on Saturday against Toulouse. "We have to stop saying playing at the Stade Velodrome is a handicap," Emon said.

Berisha: Albania striker Besart Berisha, who joined English second division club Burnley in July, will miss the season after injuring cruciate knee ligaments in an international against Malta. Burnley signed Berisha from Hamburg SV for 340,000 pounds ($686,200) but manager Steve Cotterill confirmed on the club's Web site: "He snapped his cruciate and had an operation on Wednesday, so he'll be out for the rest of the season."
