Reid: Charlton Athletic have signed Ireland international midfielder Andy Reid from London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, the Premier League club said yesterday. The 24-year-old, who has signed a four-year contract, is new manager Iain Dowie's fifth new signing in nine days.
Hartson: Wales manager John Toshack is mulling over recalling John Hartson after the striker said he wanted to come out of international retirement. The 31-year-old Hartson, who moved from Scottish champions Celtic to English second division side West Brom in the close-season, ended his Wales career in February after 51 appearances and 14 goals.
Green: West Ham completed the signing of goalkeeper Robert Green yesterday on a four-year contract. Green moves from second division side Norwich City in a deal that could eventually rise to £2 million.
Fined: Bulgarian international defender Nikolai Domakinov has been fined by the president of his club, Botev Plovdiv, for failing to congratulate his team-mates on their 3-1 win over Belasitsa Petrich on Saturday. Club president Dimitar Hristolov fined Domakinov, who had watched the game from the stands because of illness, 1,000 levs ($650) for "showing no respect to his team-mates".
Tavano: Valencia announced that they have signed Italian striker Francesco Tavano on a four-year deal from Empoli. Tavano, 27, scored 19 league goals with the Serie A side in each of the past two seasons.
Bardsley: Rangers have signed their second Manchester United player in a week after completing a loan deal for 21-year-old right-sided defender Phil Bardsley yesterday. The club confirmed the capture of Bardsley six days after landing winger Lee Martin on another loan deal.
