Crespo: Inter striker Hernan Crespo has announced that he will make a decision on his future in January. The 33-year-old has been left out from Jose Mourinho's European plans and is unhappy that he is also playing second fiddle to Adriano, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mario Balotelli domestically. "I have to wait and see how things go. My decision is to wait until January," he said. "If I could choose, I would remain at Inter. But if not, I could go anywhere. I want to play at least as a first or second choice striker.

Henry: France striker Thierry Henry has been left out of the Barcelona squad to face Sporting Gijon away in the Primera Liga today because of a throat infection.

Kahveci: Villarreal's Turkey striker Nihat Kahveci has been included in the squad to face Numancia away in the Primera Liga today after recovering from injury. The 28-year-old, Villarreal's top scorer last season, damaged a tendon in his right thigh during Turkey's Euro 2008 quarter-final win against Croatia in June, and needed surgery to repair the problem.

In France: A penalty by Ederson gave Olympique Lyon a 1-0 win at Le Havre in Ligue 1 yesterday and sent the seven times champions five points clear at the top. Brazilian midfielder Ederson converted the spot-kick just before the break after forward Frederic Piquionne was brought down in the box by Le Havre defender Nicolas Gilet. Lyon have 16 points from six matches, five points ahead of Olympique Marseille.

Clichy: Arsenal fullback Gael Clichy was taken to hospital at half-time of the 3-1 win over Bolton yesterday after a strong challenge from Bolton's Kevin Davies left him nursing a shin problem. He was able to join his team-mates for the journey back to London after X-rays showed only bruising to the area.

Juventus: Juve striker Alessandro Del Piero will miss today's Serie A match at Cagliari with a knee problem while winger Mauro Camoranesi is also out injured, the club said in a statement. The Turin club were already reeling from the news that forward David Trezeguet will undergo knee surgery.

Cricket: India batsman Sachin Tendulkar could miss the four-test series against Australia starting in Bangalore on Oct. 9 after injury ruled him out of a domestic competition match this week. Tendulkar suffered an elbow injury during the third test in Sri Lanka last month which forced him out of the one-day series.

Hockey: Former Pakistani Olympic and international players have called for the resignation of the national hockey federation president, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, after the country's worst Olympic performance. "We all feel that is time for Jamali to go and allow the federation to make a new beginning after the Beijing Olympics debacle," former captain and Olympic gold medallist Hasan Sardar said. Pakistan, four times world champions, finished eighth in Beijing last month.

Rallying: Italian motorcyclist Valentino Rossi will take part in December's Rally Great Britain, the five-times premium class world champion's father Graziano told Autosport magazine. It will be the third time that Rossi, who leads the MotoGP standings by 87 points with four races to go, has competed in a world championship rally after he participated in Rally GB in 2002 and in Rally New Zealand in 2006.
