There were mixed fortunes for the Maltese players aspiring to join the WSA Challenge Tour next season.

While Simon Zammit and Duncan Bezzina qualified from the group stages to the last 32, there was bad news for David Cortis, Philip Ciantar, Clinton Falzon and Philip Coleiro who were all knocked out.

Both Zammit and Bezzina won their respective qualifying groups. They need to win three more matches to claim two of the four places available to join the Challenge Tour next season.

In the last 32, Zammit will take on Martin Schamaun of Switzerland while Bezzina will play either Nicolas Drury of Belgium or Marrku Hamalainen of Finland.
