Recently I was travelling through Malta International Airport and decided to buy a soft drink in a half-litre plastic bottle which I normally buy for around €0.85. I was shocked when I was asked to pay €2.60 for it. Can someone from Malta International Airport please explain the overcharging?

I normally buy drinks from London's Heathrow airport, which is notoriously expensive, for £1.20 (about €1.30), and from Rome's Fiumicino for €1.30 per 500 ml bottle. By the way, the soft drink was locally produced so there are no excuses of extra transport costs to be made.
